In the fall of 2015, the brazilian band Cerne recorded their first EP, Gaiola de Pássaros (Bird Cage) and asked me for a cover art that would carry the concept of the album, an inspirational art but still with a force and energy present in a rock band. After some studies we got a result that would suit the band.
Despite being a classic square cover, this art would be used on several different platforms, so its design was totally thought about the HD screen (1920x1080). Even so art behaves very well in the classic square. For best use for other applications, each element was created independent of the rest of the composition. Each bird and background were drawn separately.
My work process was carried out in three stages. Sketch and raff in pencil, final line with nanquim on A1 paper and digital finishing and composition. Each step was thought out and made carefully by the amount of detail. See below for some details of line art.
